![]() |
Author Name Savita Devendra Vyas and Dr. Reena Thakur Abstract Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most prevalent endocrine disorders affecting women of reproductive age. It is a multifaceted condition characterized by hormonal imbalances, metabolic dysfunction, and reproductive irregularities that significantly affect a woman’s physical and psychological well-being. PCOS increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, infertility, and mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Despite its widespread prevalence, PCOS remains underdiagnosed and undertreated due to a lack of awareness and early intervention strategies. Nurses play a critical role in the management of PCOS by providing patient education, facilitating lifestyle modifications, offering psychological support, and advocating for an interdisciplinary approach to care. Their role extends beyond medical treatment to include holistic care that addresses the emotional, social, and mental health needs of women with PCOS. This review explores the nurse’s role in empowering women with PCOS through education, support, and holistic interventions aimed at improving overall health outcomes. Keywords: PCOS, nursing care, women’s health, patient education, lifestyle modification, empowerment, reproductive health, metabolic syndrome.
