This   article   provides    an    introduction   to the Nanostructured Materials section of the Reference Module in Materials Science and Engineering. A brief overview    of    the     prevalence     of     naturally synthesized nanomaterials is presented. The importance of being able to control the formed structure size, morphology, and distribution is noted. .
